A thick vegetation spread out for miles in every direction, more dense than a typical forest. The trees of the forest foretold their ancientness as a very old and primitive energy permeated the land, while the abundant life energy condensed into mist that hovered mysteriously and reduced visibility. Towering olden trees stood majestically so compactly that some of the canopies made it feel like it was night-time and their innate vitality seemed beyond the powers of time.

Interspaced among the trees though, were some even more primordial trees. Their immense gnarled bodies reached past the green canopies of the surrounding trees like emperors, so that while the other trees boasted heights reaching over two hundred metres, these emperors effortlessly doubled that. Branches as thick as anacondas fanned out at their crowns to form umbrellas of leaves encompassing diameters that would shield off three football fields with ease, and these supported the leafy roof of the lower trees to almost completely make the forest a dark green world in its own right.

Within a clearing around the entrance to the forest, a few monsters filled the space. Some had shapes like the wolves of the human world except that their sizes compared to buffalos of said human world. Surprisingly, these wolf-like monsters were the smallest among the monsters as they stood at the edge of the group. Massive apes, gargantuan reptiles and colossal birds of prey filled up the centre of the group’s roll call. These were the true overlords of the forest whose collective might would reduce kingdoms to nightmarish ruins if they willed it.

Masses of smaller monsters dotted the grounds and trees behind these overlords in great numbers that turned the greenery of the forest black. The monsters stood quietly like statues, something they would be incapable of as most of these species were on kill-on-sight basis with others. However, the gathering of their leaders resulted in a temporary ceasefire because even if the lesser monsters were more instinctual than intelligent, they knew this moment was very different.

Yet, despite the stirring shock the display of these monsters can display, what was most eye-catching was the regular-sized white cat standing in front them in the distinctive position of leader. Its white fur remained on end as its green eyes remained fixed at the disturbance in the distance at one end of the forest. A blue lake occupied that area, but where a regular lake contained water, electricity condensed forcefully until they became liquid filled this lake up. This was the forbidden Lightning Lake of the forest.

The Lightning Lake had erupted from nothing hundreds of years ago and besides the peculiarity of a lake composed entirely of vibrant energy, the lake’s surface was always calm without even the sound of thunder that should accompany lightning. The eerie silence led to suspicions earlier on, but after centuries and some initial unfortunate events, it became normal to the monsters. Nevertheless, its calm surface never deceived them from the dangers that lay below.

Kilometres away, the overlord monsters who ruled the forest glanced at the forbidden lake of electricity with deep reverence and fear, a mixture of emotions that depicted their helplessness over this part of their forest that scared their souls to the very depths. Behind them though, the lesser monsters ignored the Lightning Lake and instead directed their own reverence to these overlords. It was evident that these lesser monsters thought the overlords more worthy than the Lightning Lake.

This reaction was unsurprising, seeing that the lesser monsters never entered the forest core where the Lightning Lake stood and even when they did, they never went beyond its outer area. To these lesser monsters, the vigilance shown by the overlords must be for the Tiger King in front, but the Tiger King in question was deeply unnerved as it spoke in a deep voice that did not fit its small size.

“Isao-san, it has been four days now, right?”

Among the reptile-type monsters, the largest of them who was an alligator as huge as a small mountain, grunted in affirmation. “Yes, Seiichi-dono.” Apparently, the overlords were capable of speech.

The Tiger King shook gently and closed its eyes in worry. This was unprecedented in their memories for between their predecessors until now, they had a great knowledge on the mannerism of the Lightning Lake.

“I hope I was wrong… sigh.” The Tiger King leapt up, three jumps taking it to the top of the nearest emperor tree where it finally sat on the ground, as if giving in to its uneasiness while the other overlords watched enviously. “Yoko-san, keeping watching for changes in that person.” A great bird with a wingspan of nearly forty metres flapped its wings to remain airborne beneath the canopy of the emperor tree they waited under while chirping a reply. Disbelief had long since filled its beady eyes as it continued its vigilant observation.

The monsters always knew that none of them would ever survive venturing into the lake, a deduction derived from their elders who died from unrecoverable injuries after attempting to go in when the lake first erupted thunderously. It was also common knowledge that should one’s defence be impressive enough to survive the constant electrocution and burns of the immense voltages that the lake contained, then the lightning beast living inside would step out itself.

The thought of the lightning beast would always send shivers through the bodies of the overlords whenever they thought of it. For while the beast alone preferred staying in the electric lake and barely stepped out from its core region, its coming always ended with the death of the intruder as well as a difficult to quench rampage that would always double the bounds of the electric lake while the rampaging beast unleashed destruction like an apocalypse.

The rampages only last a few hours thankfully or the forest would never recover should it last longer. Even if it usually took the forest mere decades to recover, those initial hours of rampage felt like lengthier to the witnesses.

On the four occasions that the overlord monsters witnessed these rampages, they had fled to the extremes of the forest and watched the lightning beast end the lives of those too slow to escape its range. The sight of the deceased overlord monsters falling like ants before the lightning beast as they struggled to buy time for their kin to escape was eternally branded into the minds of the survivors and it was thus with great vigour that the core of the forest was fiercely guarded. Except the monsters guarded against another fool stupid enough to risk the wrath of the lightning beast. Neither of them, with all their might taken into consideration, thought itself worthy enough to stop the beast.

Today however, not only had the intruder lasted for four days, they were now four lightning beasts dealing out attacks with thunderous roars. Where one lightning beast already reigned supreme in the minds of the overlords, the appearance of three more after the intruder defied the odds by remaining alive caused a mental explosion in their minds. The same questions ran through the minds of the spectators.

How are there four of them? Who is that deviant?

To the person in question, he was equally grim about his situation. Erynion was clad in red robes of fine material, but no one would care about that now. Surrounding him, the four lightning beasts rained brutal attacks on his body without pause as they had for over a hundred hours. Their energies were seemingly limitless as they clawed at him to rip him apart before smashing down with their powerful hinds.

The lightning beasts were enraged, maddened to great heights as Erynion simply stood there and took it all. He remained unscathed despite the ruthlessness they struck with. Neither the force of their blows nor the electrifying energy that followed their every attack managed to harm him. The Pheles man sighed in defeat though because while the attacks could do nothing to him, the karma that he had with these beasts meant that they could at least use the torrent of attacks to keep him rooted to the spot. While the impacts of their strikes could not move him, he also could not move through them.

Erynion’s brown eyes that matched his long brown hair narrowed in thought as he wondered aloud without regarding the lightning beasts anymore, “This is sad, but they can't blame me, right? I mean it is the Lord’s power after all.”

He considered his options and after settled down to sit. Pale threads of light appeared around Erynion and with his eyes closed, he touched one of the three brightest threads. Erynion held on to it for a few seconds as the other ones faded off, completely oblivious to the world of lightning around him. He sent his thoughts into it for a bit before the thread went dark and thinned off.

“It’s up to them now.”

Ethririel tapped her fingers nervously against themselves upon her knees as she sat on the rooftop of one of the buildings close to the senkaimon that officers use when leaving Seireitei. Dressed in a regular shihakushō with wide sleeves, a white obi with the insignia of the thirteenth division went round her midsection. By her side on the roof, her black sheath laid with the zanpakutō housed within.

As she gazed towards the depths of the Gotei, her straight nose sniffed in mild annoyance as her small red lips pursed. Nevertheless, she was appealing in her elegance as her snow-white skin emitted a soft radiance in the setting sun’s glow while two strands of her three feet long dark-brown hair draped over her ample breasts with the rest of it coiled into a bun on the top of her head. Ethririel's brown eyes held complicated expressions, shifting through worry, resolve and displeasure all at the same time.

Her worry was a result of the cry for help Erynion sent days ago. Or to be more accurate, the manner the message came with that worried her. Ethririel knew her brother’s ungodly survival ability and how if he wanted to, almost nothing can stop him from leaving or sending an actual concrete message. Yet, this situation became an exception and he could only send a rough estimate of his location. Nothing else.

Ethririel consoled herself that Erynion most likely found what he went out for because knowing the limitations of his powers, only ‘that’ would force him into such a corner. Hence, the resolve to ensure that the second division vice-captain, Arthur, fulfilled his end of the bargain brewed within her even though Ethririel recalled that the Arthur did not agree to it… officially.

Fortunately, she had the facilities of the thirteenth division to attempt to narrow down Erynion’s position but the best she could achieve was only a pointer at a small world that was not in the records of Seireitei. Hence, Ethririel presented the results of her findings about the unmarked world to Central 47 through the right channels and they speedily assigned a captain from another division to come through with her.

Of course, she notified said captain about the need to rescue her brother and a rough sketch of the need for Arthur's presence as well. The mere thought of the vice-captain caused her mood to sour again. He was the source of her displeasure because Ethririel hated for something this important to require the insufferable vice-captain’s input. She felt that he was lucky her current strength fell short, else, Ethririel would make it a habit to vent on him even without a reason.

Arthur kindly took his time for his preparation on this epic journey. Few months back, he was confronted by a weird girl that seemed to know much if not everything about his Zanpacktō.

In light with what she had said, it was indeed true to some extent that he had began to lose control of his abilities. It seemed that instead of acendding to the peak of his powers, he had began to steady lose grapes of the most basic abilities. The most disturbing was his Ultimate lightning ability, the one that was godlike and made Arthur more powerful than any other lightning User. His inability to master that power had left a deep hole in his heart and the Dayne man caused himself underneath his breath.

Still, he wasn't sure traveling halfway around the world, into a place he knew so little off would help fix the root of the problem. If anything, he was going along with the little girl's plan only because it served to suit his pressing needs at the moment and also the need to change his environment was also a refreshing idea.

In his Kimono with his family name inscribed at the back, matching it with a pair of black Sandals, Arthur Dayne approached the gate. His gaze met the girl's, and he would motion for her with his right index finger to get down with a small, smooth and calm voice that matched his passive face.

"Get down." Arthur said. He would allow the calm breeze to carry his voice to her direction.

A middle aged man walked slowly down the street of seireite adorned in a black kimono with a white haori hanged loosely over his broad shoulders. Seating by his waist line a twin zanpaktou partly shaded by his white haori dangled to the very tune of his steps while a straw-hat shaded his hazel eyes from view.

The figure known as Hazuki walked confidently down the street of seireite, flying the Insignia of the 8th boldly stamped behind his cloak. It’s been a while he had gotten a mission to the white sands of Hueco

The very thought of it made him excited and worried at the same time, especially after his ordeal with the demon brothers during his last visit to the wasteland. It’s been years now, decades probably, but his memory still haunted him, especially faces of the comrades he had lost.

He was stronger now, a captain and the leader of the Ryuga clan. Still he felt uneasy about this particular mission especially since his kind really stepped foot on the white sand.

Central 46 must be desperate to assign him this mission, he considered nodding his head as if he’d forgotten the details of the whole mission ,,,,,,, those old men where slowly losing their minds anyway, he concluded with his face raised high to meet the road.

His eyes drifted to the distance to spot a Shinigami already at the doors of the seikaimon, with the Dayne family crest mapped at the back of his kimono. He’d spot another, this time suspended on the roof with the insignia of the 13th division on her.

Beyond them the gate stood bright and tall with no other individuals on sight. He’d stroll closer to the pair, only to walk past them as he made his way to the gate.

“Let’s get going”
he’d utter to the pair, walking ahead of them towards the gate “and while we are at It I would like to know your names” he’d conclude vanishing behind the veil of light.

Fuu sat patiently awaiting the arrival of Ethririel, he got a message from his elders regarding an occurrence of extreme proportion, an individual had stepped into the lake, the very lake that houses the dreaded lightning beast who had claimed the lives of many of his people and caused destruction in scales previously unknown to them.

His past few days in the majestic arrancar castle Las Noche was one of unrest and preparation, he knew he could not achieve success alone in the war he was going to seek, he knew at least one other would seek his help for he was certain she would undoubtedly get a message, especially if it was regarding the same cause of unrest which currently filled his mind.

Still sitting on his bed, he took a look around his bedroom one more time for he wasn't sure if he would  return to it so all he did was savour what might be his last glance, he had placed an order to not be disturbed and for days his order stood undefiled, clearly next to none of the members of the arrancar race held him in high regard but they all feared one thing, his power. They stood a few who could match his strength in battle and even fewer who could clearly best him among the arrancar race but something else which kept his relevance at the peak was his unique shinigami skill set and information.

Days had gone by since he placed himself in isolation, none dared disrupt his peace out of fear of his strength and those who held no fear of his strength didn't bother with him because they knew he could not be controlled and his knowledge was vital to the overall cause of Las Noche in the near future, burning a mental picture of his surrounding in to his mind as he tried to meditate to calm his nerves.

Hours had passed and the animal managed to wrest back his calm demeanor from the wells of unrest, he moved away from his bed at the corner of the room and strolled into the little pond crafted at the center of his large suite-like room. Until his attention was needed for something more pressing, he planned to sleep underwater and step into the inner world of his zanpakuto for the time being, if he was not going to be alive for much longer, his zanpakuto spirit made the perfect companion for a chat.

She had not waited long when footsteps reached her ears and Ethririel looked in that direction. Immediately, Ethririel snorted in barely hidden disdain and turned her face elsewhere as if the arrival of the second division vice-captain was inconsequential. As if to test her patience though, the man ordered her to come down from her perch.

Ethririel did not stop tapping her fingers rhythmically and stared at the sun in the west with sudden interest as if to see through what just became the mysterious matter of approaching dusk. He did not call my name, she defended herself in her head. He can not be referring to me.

Fortunately, another set of footsteps approached and when she caught sight of the haori, Ethririel took the initiative to jump down from her perch, taking great care to walk away from Arthur and stand a good distance away as she observed this captain she had only heard of but never met. His good-natured presence almost made her feel guilty about the shenanigan she deftly pulled in her reports, but when she thought about Arthur would suffer along, she could only smile somewhat apologetically at the captain.

His request that they moved on while introducing themselves felt normal to Ethririel. After all, Hazuki was a captain and well known while the odds of him being aware of existences below his position outside his division were low. Ethririel reached the gate within a few steps where she paused and replied, “I am Ethririel Pheles, Hazuki-sama.”

With that, she threw a side glare at Arthur before stepping and vanishing into the open gateway, holding her zanpakutō in her left hand firmly.

When Arthur motioned for the girl to get down and join him, she insisted on playing oblivious to what his finger meant.

Another party had joined. It was the famous captain Hazuki and he wasted no time to urge them to move. Fortunately for the mischievous little girl, Arthur was going to ignore her action for the main time and move towards the gate just as he did.

Once he entered, Arthur was teleported towards a certain location he knew nothing about. All he was aware off was that the place he was existed in the home of the beastly Arrancars. How much he hated them.

The two quickly joined him and as he requested the lady by his left quickly gave him her name which he took to memory immediately. The strange one by his right seemed distant at the moment so he didn't bother with him. However he already prepared an alias he could use just incase "the strange one"

Hazuki stepped foot into the white sand once again and as soon as they arrived. The cold wind tugged on to his captain cloak, flushing it aside ever so slightly. His gaze stretched over the distance, both to his left and right before settling back infront of him. He'd let out a sigh as all he could see was sand,,,,, sand, sand and more sand. The moon however was bright up in the sky which at this point gave the land it's only charm.

Not particurlary confident in his tracking skill, especially not here, hueco mundo, the pale shinigami turned his gaze at Ethriel, a little uncertain what she could offer but still optimistic about considering the badge of the 13th she wore on her.

The other hed write off as a brute probably only good with his sword and maybe as a bonus good with other skills he was yet to see.

He too was not too far from him. However for what ever reason he was selected, there was bound to be something even more troubling out there.

"Where are we and how far off are we?" Hed question with genuine interest as to their way about.

A bang sounded on the door, someone dared to ignore his orders, his eyes were open now, he had slept for a little while after getting into the pond, again he heard the bang and was fully awoken now as he stepped out of the pond after figuring out who the source of the disturbance was. Yes he knew who it was, his spiritual senses were at the peak attainable by any living creature, man or god.......

He held his sword firmly on his right hand as he made his way towards the door to answer this pest before it lost its composure, he opened the door and looked towards the ground to speak to the source of disturbance and hear what he had to say, "Your guests have arrived, they are still wandering aimlessly in the deserts. If you decide to move now, the desert king Runuganga had be ordered to not engage but instead standby and help you get to your destination, I do not understand the scope of this mission you wish to undertake and why you wish to undertake it, Runuganga has all the secrets of the desert and how to maneuver it, getting you to your peers within minutes would be a piss of cake, he doesn't do it of his free will as he hates all shinigami but he will do as ordered, that is all" and with that the white eyed dwarf walked away.

This little piece of Information forced a smile on the face of Fuu, his relationship with the arrancar was not a clear one but he still offered his help, and some long awaited information. The reptilian shinigami could not speak a word as the dwarfed arrancar was already on his way, instead all he could do now was put on his traditional shinigami attire, fasten his sword properly around his waist and swing his bag over his back and head out into the desert sands with a quick shortcut but first he had to dry up, he just stepped out of a pond and had already walked around the room leaving water everywhere and he had to clean up but had no time to waste, so he lets out a mild flow of reiatsu all across the room as the water on his body evaporates into thin air and the droplets across the room soon accompanied, he stopped after some seconds after he realised the pond had dried up, he was a bit carried away.

He got fully dressed and leapt out a window diving headfirst into the desert sands, the speed of his descent was rapid so he coated his skin in reiatsu to guard against the wind pressure. Rapidly approaching ground level, he noticed the sands began to move in an unfamiliar manner and realised the guardian was already at work, Fuu was not completely trusting of said guardian but Tsukane had already given his word so he chose to keep diving as the sands kept swirling in circular motions before erupting into the sky to grapple the shinigami and pull him into its depths.

Erupting like a furious volcano, sands shot fast and hard into the sky and opened up gently to reveal the crocodile walking out valiantly from within its depths, standing in front of him were the three shinigami reported to have been within the desert, he spoke Hello Hazuki.

As she stepped out of the gate, Ethririel did not pay heed to the white sands of Hueco Mundo. Recently, she’d had a number of trips here that subconsciously built her indifference to the typical shinigami unfamiliarity to the white sands of the hollow race. Instead, after stepping out as the winds whipped her hair around beneath the silver glow of the moon, a tracking device held her concentration as her fingers swiped across the screen to configure it to whom she would be tracking.

Of course, while she did this, a small part of her mind pondered on what sort of person eldest brother referred her to. Ethririel had only heard a bit about the rogue shinigami but concerned herself with only the fact that he was the best guide to the small world… supposedly. Nevertheless, she was curious on what qualifications he possessed for Velasco-nii to speak of him as such.

Within seconds, she had a bearing on his spiritual energy and turned to glance at Hazuki before pointing towards the southwest behind them. “We’ll be heading…” Her words unexpectedly cut short upon noticing the dot initially a great distance from them on the tracking device suddenly approaching them in a beeline at a speed that set her pulse racing.

How the hell is he moving that fast?! Even as the pondered, Ethririel quickly reined in her shock and coughed in mild embarrassment with an apologetic look at Hazuki. “Erm… sorry. I think we should just wait here.”

Ethririel did even have to wait to explain why they should remain where they stood because heartbeats later, the sands from that direction explosively expelled the man, Fuu.

Except he was no man.

Her eyes widened in bewilderment as she stared at the reptilian creature before the three of them and if it were not for the shinigami shihakushō he was wearing supported by the tracking device insisting the dot was right there, Ethririel would never believe he was the guide eldest brother spoke about. Ah nii-sama, she grumbled in her head. You’ll be the death of me.

Ethririel's dilemma was because in her report to Central 46, she vaguely omitted how a rogue shinigami would tag along on this exploration mission and now that he was here, she wondered how the eighth division captain would react. To compound it, said rogue was severely lacking in the aesthetics department —not that she personally minded—and people usually turned hostile to whatever differed from the norms. However, when Fuu first addressed Hazuki by name, an expectant light appeared in Ethririel's eyes. They know themselves… this might be easy then.

And then there was sand, far beyond his eye sight, to the furtheriest horizon all he saw was sand and more sand.

Arthur turned his attention to the 13th Division member as to enquire where their next destination lied and it became clear that the lady in question was somewhat confused. Just as he was about to speak out, something unusual happend. Like a tornado made out of Sand, Arthur sighted a fast movement moving at rapid pace, with its reiatsu comparable to that of his and the Captain beside him.

Once the intruder got within sighting range and also close enough to make out the words he spoke, it was only then did Arthur know that the man was an acquaintance of Captain Hazuki the 8th Division captain, it was only then did Arthur let loose his grip on his Zanpackutō for unknowingly to him, he had been gripping it tight almost like a cannon ready to blast off.
