In an area below the surface of Hueco Mundo's desert lies a habitat for mindless Hollows. A place if it were to be located in the Human World would be seen as an Evil Forest of some sort. The Menos forest, naturally congested by monsters in their unique variety of forms and sizes, hiding from higher class predictors and the likes. For some reason, the peace and order of the forest will soon be fouled up by unknown bodies.

Standing there and staring at the data floating across the computer screen before her, Ethririel frowned minutely. The shinigami woman was in the middle of a small wooden shack, hastily constructed for her to set up the monitoring devices and machines now surrounding her. While intense numerous the machines seemed, the most important one was the one average monitor screen that held her attention now.

As she was, Ethririel cut a noble figure, her entire body covered in a dyed-white dress carefully styled not to disguise her charming figure. Her brown hair neatly arranged into a tight single plait, the ponytail fell over her spine to the small of her back. The overt high peaks beneath the dress rose and fell in matching rhythm with her breathing, complimenting her small waist below underneath which her pert bottom stood out symmetrically.

Ethririel had spent exactly sixteen days in this covert operation for the division, electing to take point in testing the hollows in this core region of the Menos Forest where Menos Grande on the verge of breaking through the bottleneck to becoming Adjucha resided. Her research included, among other things, trying to find a way to simulate the domination that takes place amongst the numerous souls trapped in the Menos Grande.

If she could tap into the strength that the soul exerts to become the governing one and employ that strain into modified technological weapons aimed at arrancar, perhaps Ethririel would be able to momentarily suppress that strength. In such an instance, the most likely result would be those suppressed souls resuming their struggle from the arrancar’s Menos Grande days and forcing said arrancar into an induced mindless, but berserk state with only basic instincts available and nothing pertaining to reasoning.

Unfortunately, her test results according to the data appearing in her front indicated that the serum created only had manageable success against arrancars below the fourteenth número rank. At that rank or above that, it was straight up useless and this was the source of Ethririel's displeasure. At the project’s current standing, then it was unhelpful to her but definitely useful those lower ranking members of the division in their confrontations against lower-ranking arrancar.

Of course, making the serum was expensive enough to provide only very few drops after days of distilling. In addition, Ethririel suspected that it could only work on one arrancar once, before the serum actually strengthens that strain of the dominant soul to an even better state than it was before the serum’s use.

Ethririel grumbled but reached for her zanpakutō on the table with her left hand. Her right hand pocketed the four vials of her serum along with the flash drive that contained the details, procedures, and results of her experiment. Finished with the place as she was, she proceeded to activating the self-destruct sequence earlier encoded into the shack’s main control system before walking away from place, heading out to the middle regions of the Menos Forest.

As she strolled off, Ethririel covered her head with the hood of her dress, which was a personally modified version of a typically black reiatsu-concealing robe. Thus, when the shack exploded minutes later, Ethririel was far from it and felt invisible among the few hollows she came across. While she could have killed them all, her mission here was done and it never included killing hollows for the sake of simply killing them. If they were going to die, it was only as aid to her research.

Her apartment in Las Noche felt emptier than a crypt. She could no longer sit and watch the walls, no matter how prettily the workers painted them. Time flowed like cement. She stared at the wall clock as though it displayed onscreen entertainment of a movie. From time to time she realized her head found it's ways to the clock for it was her only companion at the moment. A minute had passed since she last checked an hour ago, or so it seemed.

Lying there on her bed with nobody to converse with, no chaos in the realm, no single member of the order of assassins available to rub minds with since they all embarked on discrete missions for months, practically tortured the queen with ceaseless thoughts of which most of the times were baseless.

"Go to the wandenreich, enslave the soldats and whoever attempts to obstruct you. Become the ruler of both realms."

She began to drift into an unpleasant daydream or was it a paranoid fantasy? So hard to tell what was what at the moment but she didn't care. It helped to pass the time and she wasn't one for entertaining herself.

It didn't take long before a wooden rapping-like noise reverberated on her door which forcefully jolted her mind back to reality. A bit surprised as to who could be knocking on the door, momentarily prevented her from responding at first. But then the tapping sound grew louder with much more tenacity and force.

"Quit hammering on my door already. Who are you; Woodpecker?" She said in an attempt to forestall further ruckus from the knocks.

"My queen, I've got a distressing news coming from sources at the Menos forest. Please may I come in?"

"At your own time."
she said uninterestedly as she sat in an upright position while using her hands to bundle to the front of both sides of her shoulders the hairs that fell down behind her like a million strands of black filaments.

Soon after, the hinges of the door creaked as the figure pushed open the door to bring to sight his presence. It was Xeusin.
Image

An Arrancar of great posture. Standing nearly seven feet tall, his height towered over many. Boasted a light skin that seemed slightly parched from the dry air of Hueco Mundo. Always flaunting and seen in his trench-coat, glasses, and hat made him the most uniquely dressed Arrancar in the entire Las Noche.

"My queen, our scouts spotted a wrecked building in flames at a concealed location deep withing the forest."

"I made inquiries but no one seems to have knowledge of who or what owns the destroyed building, or how it got there in the first place."

"I perceive trouble my queen. So I decided to notify you before I gather some Arrancars in the Quarters to go and check it out, pronto."

"No, do not take such line of action. I'll handle the situation myself."

"You may excuse yourself after you've drop the intel note on my desk,"
said Anya.

Then she allowed Xeusin to exit the room before jumping off the bed in excitement. She felt pumped, more alive than she had ever thought possible. All the mundane thoughts had been muted and all there was to know about was this moment.

In one adrenaline fuelled warrior-yell she leapt into midair not minding the ceiling fan above her. In that moment, the smile that cracked her face hadn't been seen for a while; sinister, wild, and wry. Finally something to take her mind and body off the remorseless jaws of boredom.

Few hours later she would be seen walking within the thick dark forest of Menos-grande, clad in her favourite Arrancar jacket and white pleated skirt. Her majestic steps routed for the heart of the forest, since it was within the proximity of that axis that lies the exit doorway from the forest. So she felt the need to begin her search from that area. Meanwhile, knowing fully well suppressing her Reiryoku to the very least for the sake of the lives of hollows within the forest was key, Anya made sure she didn't cause unnecessary tension amongst the dwellers of forest by reducing the voluming of her Reiryoku to the lowest level possible.

From the intel provided, something or someone owned the place and could be responsible for the explosion, since no single hollow was able to identify who or what it was. It was at that time Anya came to a conclusion that perhaps the suspect was well skilled in the art of deception or stealth and must not be taking lightly.

By the time she was almost at the heart of the forest, Anya heightened her pulses in an attempt to fish out the ghost hiding in the dark. Not more than two minutes after the volume of her pesquisa was increased, she picked up traces of an unstable Reiryoku reading coming from about 200 meters in the same direction she had taken. Her suspicion grew taller. It was when she got to a distance she felt her voice could travel into the ears of the unknown figure, she called out with a raised voice.

"I know you're out there!!!"

"Disregard every thought that your presence is hidden. Maybe to these lowlifes, but not me."

She paused briefly before saying

"Reveal yourself, loner!!! Do not force my hands."

Seeing that Ethririel was not a denizen of the Hueco Mundo, the knowledge did skip her mind on how extensively large the forest underneath the bowels of the hollow abode truly was. After hours of walking, Ethririel was yet to reach the forest’s heart and entertained herself hunting whichever unfortunate hollow her brown eyes saw.

Thus it happened that the thirteenth division member was soon dashing from one place to another on her sandals in a zigzag pattern, obliterating hollows of varying levels from the lowest caste you can find in the human world easily, to Menos Grande slumbering around like dumb living mountains. As she breezed through the forest, a bird’s eye view of the region around her would show multiple vanishing particles of hollows, caused by Ethririel swiftly finding—and taking out—a target before the last couple were done evaporating into nothingness.

Soon though, the novelty of keeping a kill streak wore off after nearly eighty victims could not attempt to put up decent resistance. Heck, she kept her zanpakutō sheathed through it all and only used her left fist, but even that wasn’t handicap enough to help her break a sweat. With a defeated lament, Ethririel straightened her dress, her facial expression showing no sign of the near-workout she just did before pulling out a small music player, a gift from Vimaro.

She connected her Bluetooth Headset, which she produced from within the folds of her dress, but while placing it on her head, shifted one side so it rested on her face, before the ear. Through the other ear, Isak Danielson’s ‘Ending’ echoed solemnly before Ethririel tapped next. As if in mockery, Halsey’s ‘Without Me’ followed and the playlist progressed through a series of sad songs by Lewis Capaldi, each worse than the last and Ethririel's mood soured noticeably.

“Stupid Teryani,” she muttered, cussing at her cousin’s ex-girlfriend who dumped his boring ass and caused him to flood the playlist with weird songs before it became hers. Ethririel had always planned to change the songs but never got to doing it, but this time, she keyed in a reminder on the smartwatch of her left wrist, hidden by the sleeve of her dress.

After moments of searching, she finally settled for Ed Sheeran’s song with the Khalid dude that Erynion disliked, ‘Beautiful People’. Putting the song on repeat, she finally melded into its easy vibes and a satisfied smile lit her face as she hummed along. Sadly, the good mood lasted only past two repetitions.

She heard the voice; feminine, loudly charging orders and the smile vanished, replaced by a scowl. Ethririel did not bother stopping though. Instead, she continued walking on, even increasing the volume of her music player in apparent lack of concern. Here in Hueco Mundo, she had no superiors and took instructions from no one. If the owner of the voice found her action displeasing, she could go do her worst. Nevertheless, Ethririel tapped a button on her watch while keeping her senses up.

It was downright provoking to imagine been ignored by the figure approaching from a distance. The suspect wore a carefree garment like it was nobody's business; hopping like a rabbit in distress. Anya assumed the trees scattered in different areas of the forest were responsible for the zigzag pattern of movement the suspect adopted.

The trees grew so thickly that there were no undergrowth at all. Its branches protruded like vines up towards the sky and brushed the nearby sister trees like paintbrushes. Without a doubt Anya felt disgusted by such act but intentionally maintained tranquil frame of mind for she knew nothing about the figure in a distance.

"Very well then,"
she said to herself as she slowly genuflected her right knee while her left hand reached to grab a handful of some remnants of dead roots before returning back to her previous standing position. Eyes immensely focused on the incoming Reiryoku signature, without any doubt Anya could now effortlessly discern the figure's presence the further it came closer.

Just as the suspect reached a 30 meters distance, Anya would sidestep to her right, away from the huge tree that shadowed her from view, and without mustering up the need to aim due to her ever able mastery in pinpointing her target(s) with her pesquisa, Anya would briefly poise herself then simultaneously flick a ball of bala with her right index finger that would bullet towards the target in an alarming speed. A bala fired by a woman of Anya's caliber wasn't to be taking for granted for it held an extremely potent burn damage because of the pool of reiatsu it fed from, and wouldn't hesitate to bore a hole right through the target if not met by a proper defense. Not been carried away by the shot, Anya immediately geared up for what was to come afterwards.
