Not quite long there was, and probably still is, emergences of certain skeptical creatures. Skeptical enough to consume other creatures hoping to prove their doubtful insanity, their madness wrong. Of course, they were intelligent, smart enough to distinct the nature of their predators or preys from just a quick stare. What was more worrisome about these creatures? The rate at which they consumed, was. . . .Unordinary, simply too unrealistic to believe. The cases of death and their tolls blasted off the charts, nothing of such had been recorded ever before. There wasn't anything as awful as this, investigation has been required, no souls could trespass these places anymore, it has turned into a JUNGLE.

Ryuugi Akashi, a seated shinigami under the 8th division, had adorned himself with assassin's embroideries and attire. He slipped out of his abode, through the window, mounted on the east side in his room, he heaved aloud, seemingly appearing all stressed out from his daily, tasking activities.
HEAD OUT! Ryuugi, without much of an information, exited, found on the outskirt of seireitei, against the walls that separated these shinigami and wandering, lost souls. In truth, his captain had cunningly convinced and forced them off to their possible deaths, under the mask, the pretence of a measly training to hone their skills. Though Ryuugi saw this as something trifling, not necessarily demanding full preparation, Ryuugi brought all weapons he'd need with him, regardless.
Pfft! To shinigami sent afore him, they considered this training frivolous, and that happened to be some days back. No news about their return or if they were sighted at the outskirt of seireitei. Though bugged, he trusted his captain wouldn't make a food out of them for some gory, brutal monster.
ALAS! He commenced, exiting seireitei totally and strutting towards the forest, through the streets of abandoned building, slithering beasts and littering corpses. He couldn't really sniff in any foul, distinctive odour, the piece of clothing that tightly concealed his lower facial portion, fended off these stenches. Ryuugi was unfamiliar with this place, regardless. A wall beyond the expanse of seireitei that had no soul inhabitant?

From afar, the illuminance within the forest caught Akashi's stare. He gazed into the distance, spotting the brilliance of the jungle. For some reason, Akashi couldn't shake off this feeling, a feeling that instilled fear; it was danger. This time, he could sniff in the danger in the air, he was forced to snatch a dagger from his pocket and as usual, he held it in reverse. For him to feel the danger despite the distance, how far could their bloodlust stretch?
'What is this feeling? This uneasiness that I feel?' Akashi croaked. Cocking his head due right, he peered behind with the corners of his oculi and that came as a result of an eerie screech followed by a pulsation through the ground, he reacted naturally, scurrying onward, against the forest. Not that he got a detailed perception of what gave pursuit, a glimpse sufficed.
Within the boundaries of the forest, the beast returned, pacing out of vision and plunged into the dark distance. Having noticed its return despite being an inch or thereabout away from the forest, a thought was introduced into his mind, one, he couldn't fend off, seeking to know it's reason for it's return. Now, within the jungle, he came to face its beauty, for a brief moment, he sank, into the depths of amazement, almost forgetting about his environment. The snap of a tree branch slapped him back into reality, the stench of danger resumed, he was then forced to act cautiously, watching his footsteps inorder not to alert any slumbering beast, in order not to draw focus towards his position. He moved gently, silently behind a tree where he'd seek refuge, waiting for his comrades to arrive. However, he armed himself, incase of any predator should surface.

"Savagery" remained the only word that could describe this wasteland. Naturally, the beasts of the animal world were suppose to work in unison, in harmony, but all they did was confront each other and slaughter themselves when the need arose. Survival of the fittest boomed everywhere in this SAVAGE land and beings of little power and strength were the greatest to suffer it.... It was the same in the shinigami world, those with little strength and resolve would be slaughtered, none of such would be given the privilege of any position(rank) to dwell on.

Mayatsumi would once again be bestowed with the privilege to testify his resolve. And this time, it was no ordinary battle. Being amidst the creatures of this land alone spelled danger but what better way to show his resolve than to continue his journey.

Gentle, soft footsteps resonated the background... When they landed on the bare ground a crunching sound occured due to the breaking of fallen tree leaves as feet came in contact with ground. Mayatsumi still continued walking southwards, hoping to find the centre of the forest although somewhat delirious at the moment he didn't know where the 'centre' was anymore. He stopped to take a sip of water, it was a really big forest. The wilderness always seemed to get the better of him but he wasn't going to let his guard down this time.

After walking for about an hour Mayatsumi looked ill, his eyes grew tired and squinted in the wrong way making him think that he continued seeing the same thing as he walked, he suggested that his journey was only an illusion as he was walking in circles. Falling on the floor due to exhaustion, Mayatsumi revered to taking a short rest, or so he called it.

Settled in his room with nothing but a bowl of water kept in front of him, Kin sat patiently meditating upon troubled past as his work as assassin continued to dig up troubled memories. In the past few days, he'd seen a lot, heard a lot and witnessed a lot but nothing could have prepared him for the news he got from his captain this morning.

His Captain Hazuki, who he had come to respect and admire had giving an order he couldn't immagine possible, giving how he had sworn to protect people of the 8th. It was not long after his morning training that he had called him, inviting him into the meeting room for a top secret duty. "Bury your emotions and hunt down members of the 8th at the jungle" he said sounding more serious than he had ever seen him before. A few more was said but nothing made sense after the first statement, not to him at least. "But Why, why me?" he had immediately asked but all he got was silence as the captain headed back into his chambers shutting the door behind him.

For hours he had pondered on what to do and had seen himself stuck in distant memories. However, the time was now and it was upon him. To him, it was now a matter of duty and dignity and all he could do was hope the captain had a plan, a better plan which would explain everything at the end.

Picking up his staff to start his journey, the monk drew open a pathway causing a rift in space to appear in the form of a Sekaimon. Already dressed in all black with head and mouth cloaked from sight. The bald monk appeared ready for his journey and moved into the bright light leaving nothing behind.

Arriving at the cursed jungle, Kin dropped to the floor right knee first taking in his environment as he gazed at animal and trees arround. His demeanor spoke nothing of fear with his reitsu supressed to the barest minimum. Why this place he wondered eyes scouting for movements or familiar face which may be lurking around. Returning attention to the task at hand. The monk pulled up a map of the terrain taking notes of where to be, what to do and possible locations where his targets could have arrived.

He could tell quite well the terrors the jungle carried and would immagine himself not wanting to spend much time in such a place especially as a junior officer. Already aware of his targets possible objectives, Kin would calmly fold his map into his robe as he looks forward at the horizon hopping to set eyes on giant trees, located at the center of the forest. Not seeing anything Kin would only wonder how long his targets could last as he dashes forward due north, aiming to cover as much ground as he could before sundown.

Growls and hateful moans caught Akashi's attention whom was resting his back on a tree. From just that, his shut eyes leapt open, his pupils shrunk registering a feint glow of fear within. Tightening his grip on his short blade's hilt, he sat calmly hoping its attention would be called off. Tilting his face abit, at the right, on the tree's edge, he'd peek surreptitiously in search of the beast.
Dripping saliva and protruding fangs, squeezed face and hairy body with oculi brimming with a sharp glow of red and limbed specifically like a four-footed beast, its nose snuffed, in search of any animal's smell. The mere sight of it caused Ryuugi's eyes to vacillate hastily, gasping laboriously while clenching his mouth with his left palm so as not to alarm the dreadful beast. It became as though Akashi has been short of breath, he could neither control his hectic breathing rate nor his staggering demeanor.

'What to do?
He mulled over, running through his memories in order to find what he could do in this desperate situation. Perhaps, onlookers may wonder why Akashi could be acting this weak and scared despite being an assassin. No less than past experiences stirred up this fright. The moment he heard the strange growl, he couldn't help but reminisce about past events which had been of great detriment and probably will cause him great detriment in the nigh future.

A snuff once more from the beast, sniffed in the fear within the air. Not exactly as fast or as strong as Akashi but it's great move could be termed The Perfect Scare. A move that spreads an aura which forces any target to venerate at its will and unfortunately, Akashi was caught within its grasp. From there onwards, it could tell where the scared had been positioned.

Like a speeding bullet train, it pranced. Snapping through tree pines and stalks with its' claws. Crashing it's head onto the tree, the collisive force tossed Ryuugi away, sending him tumbling on fallen leaves and mildly wet plants. However, Ryuugi didn't let go of his blade, in fact, he tightened it even more to the extent blood began dripping. Scars and dirt plastered over his face and body, a pant forced out transparent, slightly white viscous substances out of Ryuugi's mouth.

Shortly, Ryuugi let out an outburst of reiatsu for a brief moment hoping to slow down its speed for a second. Fortunately, the skill that this beastly creature forced on him wore off and in that instant, Ryuugi felt a relief and at that same time, a sharp, lingering pain in the right corner of his head forcing his Visage's right side to stiffen briefly.

Pressing palms hard on the ground, his mass got propelled up. Though the motion of the bolting beast seemed a lot slower now, he wasn't in a position to counterattack rather, a slight push of his body moved him out of harm's way, leaping away from it's path, on its right.
Grappling onto a metallic chain, a swing from it curled round and wrapped the hindlimbs of said beast whose back could be seen from Akashi's position. Barely struggling to maintain its stand[the beast, in this case], Akashi would easily drag the chain even more so that the resistance the beast put up assisted in snapping its hind-limbs' ankle. Quickening his motion with the succor of shunpo, he arrived at the beast's front, swinging his short blade mercilessly to bring an end to its life. He did so in order not to drag more beasts' attention.

The smell of rotten bodices and dried blood fumed the masses, for some reason the grey haired shinigami enjoyed its daring stench. Almost half asleep he twisted and turned his entire body to indicate that he wasn't quite comfortable with his current resting position. At last the shinigami reluctantly opened his eyes, revealing a duo of plain grey eyeballs dazzling in the light of the sun. Using his zanpakutou to support his person, the shinigami slowly stood up staggering in the process.

A fierce growl caught the attention of the shinigami and sequel to that the sudden feeling of danger alerted his entire body, trickling down his spine like rain drops. Fear lingered in the air and when there was fear, there it was, death would occasionally follow. Although the grey haired shinigami laid still in a spot, there was war, war in his mind.... The shinigami couldn't yet overcome this sort of murderous intent, none of which he had ever come across with before. "I am a shinigami, am I not?..... Why should I fear this-this.........". The war was won as predicted, the shinigami amassed courage and turned to look upon the beast that maimed his resolve. A ferocious beast nonetheless, with teeth falling from his mouth like a saber and saliva too, horns like that of a buff and a puffed up body strong a enough to crush human bones just by resting on them, although the beast looked out of shape it still possessed some muscular dominances in his legs and arms notwithstanding his chest.

The eyes of the shinigami wasn't fully lcoked on the beast yet as he was only viewing the beast from one eye, still turning to stare fully on the beast, he would be met by a running ram. The beast launched at him positioning his iron horn at the direction of the shinigami. Easily moving his body to the right he would evade the beasts' attack, smiling as he did. About to land his counter blow on the helpless beast, the shinigami would touch the shoulder region of the beast and chant"Hadou 1:Sho!" A low class kido spell but when used perfectly it could damage even the strongest of opponents. The Hadou spell seemed to have no effect on the beast as the thickness of its skin easily absorbed the pending impact pushing the beast just an inch away, out of anger and anguish the beast would turn his left hand at an angle 120° to slam into the face of the grey haired shinigami. As expected the punch connected but not fully, Mayatsumi turned his head a little to evade just a portion of those gigantic fists leaving the rest for his ear to take. The punch came heavily blasting the shinigami off his feet and hitting him on a nearby tree behind him, his body carved itself into the tree.... a remarkable artifact to be remembered.

Once again the beast prepared to launch at Mayatsumi, this time it launched with more speed than before, with a very fierce speed, his horns locked on its target. Mayatsumi could only glare at the beast like a helpless child, he stalled till the beast came close enough to him with its horn, the shinigami slid downwards to dodge the horn through the spacing between the beasts' legs and curve his fists into the abdomen of the beast as he slid through , this time with much force. Regardless this beast packed some level of durability the punch could only push it a few metres away, "This-this is no ordinary animal! But I'm no ordinary man". The shinigami inhaled and exhaled he began to enjoy this fight, raising both hands to cover the sides of his face like a boxer he would try to taunt the beast. The beast could only react normally when it received a taunt, placing it's arms on the ground it would concentrate it's speed into that one hit, it dashed towards Mayatsumi with a somewhat devastating speed. Appearing at the right side of the Shinigami it would amass enough strength to punch towards the face of the Mayatsumi.

The grey haired shinigami, bent underneath the approaching punch, he could see everything clearly as he was a creature dominating in speed. After dodging the punch he would deliver his own, slamming his fists into the elbow joint of the animal and concentrating his strength into it. Groaning in anguish the beast held its arm and growled, the sound resonating in the background. "A broken bone, perhaps? " the shinigami asked coldly, slowly pulling out his zanpakutou he would walk gently towards the groaning beast and raise his blade in attempt to slash the head of its victim, being a bad Zanjutsu user his attempt to slash the head of the beast failed, the slash went for its neck instead although thats a more preferable place to swiftly end this match up. Surprisingly, the blade stuck there, in its neck, the beast hardened it's fibres so as to prevent that slash from leading any effect at all. Grabbing the arm of the grey haired shinigami It would fling him to its side and use its head to slam into his (famously known as headbutt), the beast continued the process till it confirmed the shinigami could no longer move and then toss him away.

Mayatsumi tried to carry himself up but it was futile. "You've broken me, yes! But not my resolve! " slowly lifting himself up he would stagger in the process. "Come at me retched Beast! " Taunting the beast again. The beast didn't think twice, it did as ordered and boosted forward in a bid to completely dismember it's opponent with a sudden punch to the head. The shinigami concentrated, he focused on the movments of this tricky felllow, and as the punch came , he left. He turned his body such that he could evade the punch and launch his hand towards the neck of the beast. The beast capitalised and grabbed his entire body like a somewhat death hug, but the original motive if the shinigami became clear"Hadou 4: Jugeki Byakurai" as the beast then freed Mayatsumi from his horrible clutches. The beast fell on its back, as smoke escaped from the point in contact. Once more the sonorous sound of metals scratching on a surface resonated, Mayatsumi wasted no time to slash on the arm of the beast, and this time he was successful. The creature release what could no more be known as a groan, it screamed with all its might as blood dripped from his amputated arm. "Heed this warning, little friend" Blood began dripping from the mouth of the shinigami.

It seemed the animal itself was driven by a series of wayward emotions, It snubbed the words of his victor and preferred to charge once more at the shinigami who turned his back to walk away from the scenery, that was a grievous memory the animal would never forget. Mayatsumi on the other hand paid no attention to the charging war hogged like beast, he could hear it, the sound of the pending beast all he needed to do was inflict the final blow. Tilting his body a little to the right he would escape a close death sentence and right there and then he was to give his own (Death sentence). The beast would now be left charging at an empty space as the shinigami hastily pulled out his zanpakutou and used the restriction between his sword and his scabbard to inflict a very fatal slash/cut situated at the right rib of his opponent, the shinigami proceed further with a follow up to rid the beast of its head as he turned the blade to cut clean through. Skill and talent prevailed as Mayatsumi was able to disfigure his opponent, a vicious beast. The remnants of blood splattered everywhere, some even on the kimono of the shinigami giving it a distinctive blood red colour.

Walking through swampy fields with foot dragged along muddy streams, the bald monk walked undisturbed though aware of the predators which lurked around. Alligators he snapped as he watched them slowly draw to him all eager to take that big bite.

Patiently waiting for the first brave soul with staff held in hand as he staggered on, the bald monk could already tell it was only a matter of time and they would all be on him like piranhas on bleeding meat. In a matter of fact, they would have already been on him if not for some primordial animal instincts which kept them a reasonable distance away. How long more could this take the monk wondered with foot submerged further into the murky stream and breath drawn in measured pace.

With eyes darted a little to the east, he would come to find an alligator snap a fish between its jaws as if trying to show him what fate awaits. However, moving on with conviction mimicking that of the desert sun, he carefully kept steady while trying so hard to also survive the stench of green grass, decay and olive fumes which mixed perfectly to offend the human lungs. The sun also bared heavy on him but none of this mattered not when his goal was yet to be achieved.

Looking forward at the few meters of swap left to cross, the monk felt his burden lessen by a mile, causing him to drop his guarded arms in a slight show of weakness. However, just as he did, the wind around him and the forest in general changed coinsidently, causing a sudden aggression and panic, which washed the jungle clean. The alligators which once traded cautiously quickly sprung to action, aiming to devour all that stood tall before them. It was time, time for food they must have thought with jaws pulled open as their tails wagged in the stream.

Sequentially, distant chirping echoed along the North regions, with birds of various nature and form taking to the sky, fluttering feathery wings as they scampered away in flocks.

Caught in the sudden moment of panic with reflexes mimicking that of the gods, the monk quickly swung his staff in perfect tandem with the wind, slamming each alligator away in a grotesque show of unrestrained brutality. His once doused shoulders rose up against his neck with eyes focused on anything not aimed for peace. Increasing his pace as he hammered, his arm swayed unlimitedly, splattering gators and blood all over the field.

Victory was going to be his he imagined, no victory was already his he concluded as he observed the gators dwindle in number. There was never any doubt he thought, the outcome was always in his favor. However, before he could claim his long awaited victory grin, the forest tore on its self revealing beasts with hooves and horns which came smashing into dirty streams unrestrained.

Tilting his face to see numbers of spooked buffalo's dashing towards him, Kin quickly rose to the occasion, stamping his staff into the pool while he threw his lower limbs upward in a maneuver similar to a cart wheel flip.

Landing both foot on dry land after a successful spin, the monk quickly dashed forward in normal human pace as the beast continued to grow in number threatening to level the entire forest with him in it. He would feel his heart pound against his chest as the number behind him overwhelmed him, but just when he thought the worst was here, his pupil quickly caught sight of more beasts tear trough the forest before him.

Shocked at the sudden outcome his eyes balls immediately dilated for a second or two before returning to maintain focus. "No, This was not the plan" he muttered as if patting himself at the back with all distraction set aside. Whatever this was he was going to conquer, he reluctantly concluded with motion still geared forward.

Now moving like the wind, his foot would pat the ground faster than they did before putting him in a part aimed towards the closest beast around. In random strides, Kin would leap to the air stamping the beasts at its back as he did. He would immediately hop from one back to another till he came near the closest tree branch where he would jump and settle for a while, waiting patiently for the stamped to clear.

Loud pounds trailed far off, an effect caused from the aggressive repetitive steps of magnanimous creatures. Slightly bruised and hanging behind a tree, Akashi focused his resolve and cleared up his wound, not intending to attract the murderous creatures that'd sniff out the waft of blood in the air. Akashi, literally, could tell the path of danger due to the ominous reiatsu adrift the path whichever way it led to, hence, he depended on his ability to detect reiatsu rather than what meets the eyes. Furtively slithering behind trees every now and then, he'd slowly but surely edge closer to his destination and for some reason, he'd, at odd intervals, glance at the sky and withdrew his eyes immediately. It was unknown whether he had been trying to tell the time or trying to find his way through this method. Suddenly, he felt a creature within his radar, strangely, it was some metres.

' Impossible! '
Subtly said the scared shinigami. Akashi hasn't been depending on his five senses, rather he used his sixth. Up until he briefed the distance to a measly 10m, he didn't notice the presence nor reiatsu of this weird-looking beast. Baring its canines and wrinkling his facial skin, the golden oculars glimmered with sharp intensity, cocking it's head to face Akashi. Instinctually, Akashi withdrew in his steps and hid his reiatsu, swerving eastwards and running, afterwards. Akashi'd be unaware when he took these steps, at that instant, if his subconsciousness didn't take over, Akashi would've been the nicely served dinner. But why didn't it follow Akashi? Where did he suddenly spring out from? What's that? How'd it house such an enormous energy? Loads of questions hurled itself at Akashi, trying to grasp what happened eventually. After all that, he'd get a grip of himself and after numerous theories, Akashi came to believe few out of them.

' Firstly, it has no senses except for the vibrational pulses or reiatsu its extrasense helps with. Two, it can erase its presence totally. Three, once within the radar, its erasure comes off but why didn't he come at me when he detected?'
With his index finger curled round his chin, and thumb supporting the chin's underneath, he continue to solve the mystical riddle. And as the last question came, his eyes dilated, gapping widely his lips and exclaiming roaringly.

'That must be it'
He said to himself and walked casually to the location he, last, found the beast.

A lot of time had elapsed after he slaughtered the war hogged like man beast, perhaps half an hour, the shinigami could not really tell. Brushing aside the dust that clinged to his attire Mayatsumi mumbled, beckoning about the harsh qualities of this environment. Just when he sat on the bare ground to amass energy and recover himself, his ears picked up an unusual noise, the sound of galloping horses. The sound drew nearer to his person craving to spook him just like it did those horses, the sound itself seemed to run faster than the animals who made them.

Griffin cared less about the galloping noises, what actually drew his attention was another weird noise coming from his rear side, it sounded like wolves howling, crying, praying if at all because of the sight of their first prey.... A shinigami. Was it thE smell of his blood that called to them or the galloping noise, nevertheless they were vexed and their eyes possessed a spark of blood lust, their ears standing tall and firm. Viewing these wolves accurately their numbers could be around 4 or even 5, what mattered now to the shinigami was how best to escape them.A group of spooked horses from one side and a pack of fearless wolves in the other... this really isn't one of his best days.

Without wasting a second a wolf sprung into action, it was as if the wolf spoke to Griffin and all he could understand was " we're gonna enjoy you tonight! Brace your self Ningen! (Human)", biting and chewing the air as it approacheD Griffin until it lunged itself towards the mid region of the shinigami. It was amazing how fast these animals were or was it the effect of this particular jungle, this jungle nurtured vicious beasts with incredible physique, stamina and strength but all these attributes were what the shinigami's are known for. Simply pulling out his blade Griffin slaughtered the approaching wolf mid air as it leaped, beheading it. After beheading the wolf, he surprisingly noticed two more pursuing him and surprisingly thE galloping horses Griffin presumed weren't horses, they were buffalos and they were close..... Griffin broke out a laugh and used the strength left in his legs to climb atop a tall tree thus leaving the buffalo for the wolves. Funny enough those spooked buffalo ran them down, stumping on the remaining wolves left in the pack.

Squatted and settled on top the branch of a Baobab tree, the bald monk watched closely as the beast of burden moved along smashing themselves against each other in their race forward. The earth beneath them marveled at their power with the tress and birds put in a state of panic. Though settled on top sturdy branch, the monk could feel their might, and the vibration and despair their combined strength sent to the stem of the trees. It wasn’t so often he’d seen so many animals together, neither has he ever seen so many running as if having restless minds.

Their movement seemed like that of the possessed as they cared little of one of their kind which had smashed to the edge of tree only to drop to the ground. They showed almost no sympathy for it and simply stepped on top it as they made their move ahead. What did they call it Kin wondered as he thought of the reason why animals acted so much so as men whenever they had a purpose driving them. Animal instincts he whispered feeling particularly confident of himself with his eyes still set on the beasts bellow. Animal instincts he whispered again this time wondering what could have triggered such move.

Looking back at the location they came through, the monk could clearly see nothing but dust and a few more beast racing behind the horde. However tilting his face to catch a glimpse of where they were headed to, he could see thick vegetation tear apart, opening up a pathway for them. Fear was the only reason he could come up with an emotion more effective than hope. Something was definitely after them and he wasn’t going to stay long to see. His eyes quickly narrowed as he came to observe the last of their kind run along the field trying to catch up with the rest.

It was time he thought as the last one moved along dodging the beast that had fallen as it darted the dusty floors frantically. That was all he murmured letting himself drop calmly to the floor without making a sound. With his eyes adjusted to pick up on the dead beast position he calmly approached it pulling out a knife from his arm pocket. With his left he quickly buckled his staff to his back while he bent down to say a little prayer, a little gesture he does with his two palms locked in front of his face as he takes a bow tanking Buddha for the meal provided.

He could tell this was a rare opportunity to take advantage of and just as soon as he’d finished he dogged his knife into the calf of the beast slicing it clean through from its joint. The scent of blood immediately leaked out as the monk carried on dicing out fleshy parts of the beast. This was a blessing he meditated considering the undetermined nature of his quest. This might be his only opportunity to restock and he was not going to let it pass him by.

At first, what played into his eyes were nothing more than broken stalks of trees and pile of fallen-leaves. Though skeptical about the location of the aforementioned beast, he moved on with his conjectures, hopefully planning an affront with the dreadful beast.

IT OCCURRED AGAIN, the moment he stepped into the beast's circle, a flush of reiatsu washed over him. The distinct change in the atmosphere became far more intense to the extent his own fear slowly rendered him devoid of breathe/oxygen.

It cleared again. Hold on, please.
