Keith sat at his desk, filling away papers. It had been a very long week, the 2nd was newly open there was still so much to do, although his VC was proving himself very useful which was a blessing. Anyone who knew him, knew that he hated working and would do whatever he could to avoid it. Kind of like now... Stifling a yawn, Keith pushed away from the desk and stood up. "Off to go spar" he spoke out loud to no one at all. Grabbing his Zanpakutou, he vanished, effortlessly leaving behind a single clone, that remained for 45 seconds before dissipating into nothing.

Kara stood in her new office for the first time. The quiet seemed to draw in close and press its cool palms hard into her ears, and she could almost hear the air shift. It was immediately obvious no one had used the large room for a while; dust motes floated blithely on the slow-shifting air, and there was that soft, musty smell that accompanied things or places unused or abandoned.

Walking over to the large, ornate captain's desk, Kara placed a palm on the top of a tall stack of densely-lettered papers- official documents, most likely. She could already feel a headache coming on.

It wasn't just the mountain of responsibility that came with heading a division. It was the fact that being a captain made her more visible. And 'more visible' wasn't the status quo she'd been seeking when she joined the Gotei 13. She'd hoped to blend in, one more dot in the matrix of the military's rank and file. But no ... that wasn't to be any longer. Now she'd been thrust front and center for the world to see. And the world had a shadow...
