Deep Sea Menace



For J-City, the beginning of summer was marked with an earth-shattering scream. A disheveled fisherman jumped down from the roof of his shack, yelling, "They have returned! They have returned!"

His fellow fishmongers thought him mad. The sailors shook their heads and clucked their tongues. The couples taking their kids for a stroll across the beach pointed at the fisherman and warned their children not to go anywhere near the drunkard yelling like a fool. Who would have believed a man dressed in tatters and swinging a bottle of liquor like a prized trophy?

But then the ground trembled. The seagulls scattered like shadows chased by the light of the sun. From a distance, the waves churned, swallowing a boat in its deadly embrace. Across the depths of the sea, a giant hydra rose, tall as a mountain and behind it, the Seafolk, once thought to be slain, growled in fury.

They had returned for vengeance.

Description:
Smutch is a young man in his mid to late 20s, of average height and build. He has short, unkempt light brown hair and green eyes. Befitting of a member of the Beggar's Sect "Dirty Clothing Faction", he wears what appears to be a green, old, worn out and dirty cloak over his body with a tattered, patched-up, multi colored shirt underneath and brown pants, also tattered, patched up and in overall terrible condition. He is always seen carrying a staff.

Personality and life:
"Smutch" was always a kind person, even from a young age. He would always help anyone he could with their problems in any way he could, which eventually drew the attention of the "Beggar's Sect". The Beggar's Sect decided that his kindness and ambition shouldn't go to waste, so they decided to recruit him and help him become stronger, so that he could be able to uphold justice and assist those in need, even against monsters and high profile criminals.

After joining the Beggar's Sect and was trained in the ways of the "18 Dragon Subduing Palm Technique" as well as the "Dog Beating Stick Technique" by his Master -an S Class Hero under the moniker of "King of Beggars"- and become substantially more powerful as a result, the young Beggar decided to follow the footsteps of his master and joined the Hero Association under the name "Smutch".

Abilities
Being the second highest A Rank Hero, Smutch is a powerful individual. He's extremely agile and quick but also deceptively durable and strong, thanks to his extensive martial arts training.

His proficiency with the "18 Dragon Subduing Palm Technique" makes him a very dangerous close quarters combatant but his mastery over the "Dog Beating Stick Technique", which is second only to his master and the other Clan Leaders of the 'Sect, is what makes him a very lethal combatant when armed with his beloved staff.

Isra, The Poet

Description:

Personality and Life:
Isra is loud and rambunctious. She tends to act overdramatic and likes quoting famous poems in history. She has a sweet tooth, placing great importance in frosted cakes and sweet buns. However, she can be serious when the situation calls for it. She is highly skilled in analysis and deduction, capable of gauging an enemy’s psyche and focusing on their weak spots so that she can exploit and defeat them.

Prior to joining the ranks of heroes, Isra worked as a librarian at the national library but the low income and excessive working hours made her quit. For three years, her whereabouts became unknown. Her popularity picked up when she rose to A-Class Rank 10 upon excelling the Hero Association Entrance Exam. There are rumors that her powers are attributed to the meteor shower that ocurred three years ago in C-City though no known evidence has been documented. Currently, Isra is an active hero doing various services to the citizens, ranging from saving cats to handling global threats. She is also doing a 365-day origami project which has gathered a lot of social media attention, mainly from her fans.

Abilities:
Isra has a creation-type ability where she is able to create any non-living object from any part of her body provided they do not exceed 2 meters in length. She always quotes phrases from various poems whenever she uses her powers—a habit that has earned her the nickname “The Poet”—though it is not known whether that is necessary for triggering her abilities.

Isra is also capable of extreme acrobatic feats, easily able to balance on ledges, walk on ropes, and climb walls.

Location: J-City Port District, at one of the many Cargo Ports.

The A Rank, number 2 Hero named "Smutch" was navigating his way along the back alleys of one of the several Cargo Ports in J-City; The city's port complex was known to be one of the largest among all Cities. He knew where he was going. He knew every nook and cranny of the place, every blind corner, every hiding spot. He knew which parts normal people should avoid at night, and also knew the most popular spots where all the homeless and the downtrodden gathered.

He knew most of these poor souls -both due to some of them being members of the Beggar's Sect and acted as his informants but mostly due to the fact that he was the one who used the money he earned from begging and hero jobs in order to buy them food.

There were several abandoned warehouses in the Cargo Port - a lot of those places were "home" for a lot of unfortunate people- and Smutch proclaimed himself as their caregiver and protector. He couldn't lift these people up from poverty, nor fix their lives but he could at least bring a smile to their faces, feed them, and occasionally, protect them from all those who were out to hurt them.

He was on his way to one of the warehouses with two large sacks full of food, water and clothes, when he felt the ground tremble. He felt it in his gut -a bad feeling he couldn't shake off. A few moments later, his worst fears were realized. The waves off in the distance churned, the ground trembled again, and a loud noise -the howling of the Seafolk, led by an enormous Hydra monster the size of a mountain, echoed across the shoreline and engulfed the city.

Smutch knew they were trouble. He made haste towards the warehouse in order to deliver the goods, all so that he can focus in the upcoming fight he knew was coming.
