The Human World
Karakura Town (By The River)
The Final Hours Of The Silent Wind
Walking down the empty streets of Karakura town, Diego felt the gentle wind caress against his puffy cheek, and his barely dried hair drizzle water on-top his black leather coat. This he would have naturally stopped or dried off, but a call had been made, one he could not neglect nor delay. With a slight sigh, his worries became that of the past allowing him to pay attention to the quest ahead. "Come on Callypso lets pick up the pace"
He quickly blurted, in an attempt to call into attention the urgency of their motives.
As soon as the command was made, the two men quickly resorted to running and easily made their way from one street to another through hidden ally’s and tunnels, most of which were well mapped out paths only known to the brotherhood. In a matter of minutes, the two individuals made their way to a hill top, located a few kilometers away from the city.
Tall standing tress lined out as far as the eye could see with its roots protruding from the soil. "Great we are almost home"
Callypso exclaimed on getting to the hill top seconds after Diego, who had for some unknown reason, stopped at his track after getting there. "Come on let’s go master"
, the tall brunette uttered before dashing forth into the woods. He quickly applied a break to his movement on seeing the blind knight hesitance to his vibe, he clearly had no intention of moving forward, and this brought up a lot of concerns for the young brunette.
“What’s the matter master, why the hesitation?”
The young brunette quickly asked in a frenzy on seeing Diego's hand drift down to the pommel of his blade.
Filled with disappoint and shame, the blind knight wore a frown on his face on hearing his subordinate ask such question. [Wasn’t he paying much attention or was he that dumb]
he wondered as he pulled out the full length of his blade.
"What’s the matter Sensei?"
the young brunette inquired once again, only this time, his hand was also headed to his sword. The young apprentice knew something was up and would slightly tremble in fear and attempt to soliloquizes on what the matter could be [Could he have found out my plan for him? Did I give away my intent by mistake? If not that then what?]
he knew quite well his master was unto something on watching him assume a battle pose. However not knowing what the matter was would have trails of Sweat dropping down the brunettes cheek while he attempts to make space between him and the blind knight.
with a single step backward Diego would quickly react by jolting forward "Why the sudden panic", He would inquire with anger coursing through his voice. He would quickly overlap his tall apprentice and intercept two arrows intended for the young man’s shoulder, this he would skillfully achieve by simply swaying his blade back and forth. Without further delay, he would immediately draw unto his second Kodachi making sure to rip it free from its sheath.
He would wonder as he tries to get a good feel of his immediate environment. With another slight sigh Diego would express his disappointment towards Callypso, who's recent state of panic had started bothering him. With his sword still sheathed and his guard filled with a lot of openings, Diego would only wonder if he really had a death wish. With just a spoken word “Stand your ground boy or I cut off your head”
the young apprentice would gain back his composure and immediately guard himself as required of him. He would grab unto his sword and pull it out of its sheath only to toss it around in his unique way from one hand to the other.
With a slight nod and a broad smile stretching along the blind knight face, Diego would commend his apprentice over his new-found composure, “about time”
he would silently mutter as he redirects his attention towards the invading personalities.
Not wasting more time, the two went at what seemed to be a couple of ten samurais from the Edo Era, hacking and slashing them down as quickly as they came. However with every successful kill two more would take their place.
The blind knight felt joy warm up his heart with each new kill he made, it was a thing of joy to finally put his skills into good use after a few years of inactivity, but this was not same for his apprentice. The young lad, had consistently slashed, torn and drilled his way across a few of the Samurai and was now losing stamina at a rapid rate. His maneuvers more predictable and his breath grew heavier and heavier with each passing second, Diego could only but observe, as he himself would admit their foe wasn’t without skill. it was indeed hard for a master level like him to keep up and as such wouldn’t expect much from Callypso.
Hours passed and the two individuals found themselves back to back with each other, in a circle of what would appear to be a hundred men. They were both worn out and already battered with bruises and cuts riddling their body. Clothed in rags and blood, Diego would cough out more blood as he eventually takes a knee. [What was all this]
he would wonder as he tries to picture how such a huge number of men could have all gathered so close to their fortress without setting off any trap.
Driven by curiosity Diego would quickly inquire the source of their command, “who sent you?”
he would mutter to the hearing of the closest man around. However as expected, no reply was offered. The blind knight would stand to his two feet and this time with a loud tone the words "who sent you"
would echo throughout the herd of men. However, before the echoing sound would douse down, the blind knight would feel a cold sword stab into him from the back till it pierced through his rib-cage and out from his chest. "I did"
a familiar voice would mutter in return sending Diego into a quick shock. His mind and thoughts would attempt to pinpoint who the voice could belong to, something he already knew but was in total denial. With no hint of regret nor remorse Calypso would continue his utterances as he slowly pulls his sword out from Diego’s back, “Master,,,,, Master,,,, Master, don’t take this personal. You see, I was only obeying the emperor orders".
A sharp burst of laughter would quickly echoed through the woods, laying to waste the silence that comes with the night. The raging sound would continue for a while and will gradually reduce with the dwindling number of samurais, making their way to whatever cave they crawled out from. However Calypso would still stand put and watch the final moment of the man he once called master. A treasure to behold knowing fully well, hes new seat as master can only start after the death of Diego.
The blind knight feeling himself gradually fade into the dark would attempt a comment or two, but would only find himself spurting out blood from his mouth each time he tries. Overwhelmed by the pain of betrayal and the physical pain from the sword stab, his feet would immediately give out causing him to crash under his own weight and into his pool blood.
[What was it all for]
he would imagine, as his consciousness drifts down memory lane. He would clearly remember killing his own master and wonder if he really deserved any less than what he got. With his mind going through the events of his past, the blind knight would fade into the darkness only to awaken in chains and bond, in a room harboring no doors nor windows.
A new world un-explained.
