Things happened to be going as planned, with Killy's tanto a needle's length away from relieving the dwarfsized arrancar of a limb. Concealed and travelling at such difficult to track speed levels, the blonde shinigami believed that nothing could go wrong only for the unexpected to happen- The much larger arrancar suddenly moved reflexively, his upper body turning to the right so as to place a firmly clenched fist directly in line with Killy's face. Eyes glazed with ill intent, the giant's face gained an unsettling grin as gale force winds broke loose from the elbow of his arm, the force of that aeorokinetic discharge propelling that arm and the fist attached to it towards Killy at tremendous speeds.
Seraph's brows furrowed. He had after all been skeptic about the giant's apparent harmlessness. Realising that his doubts weren't misplaced and witnessing hypothesis become reality, he bit his lower lip, unease welling up within him. However, this mental state presented itself for an instant, with his countenance simply becoming more stern/serious than before.
Revisiting the giant arrancar's bizarre actions in a flashback, the blonde shinigami inwardly agreed to himself that a precise and perfectly timed bodily response like that could not have been created out of mere coincidence. The giant had moved in a manner akin to someone who was fully aware of Killy's presence, which by the way had been masked entirely. To be exact, that arrancar appeared to have completely pierced through the veil of bent light cloaking Killy from reiatsu perception. A feat like that should have been impossible for even the dwarfsized arrancar, who had manageable amounts of reiastu/reiatsu control, talkless of the Goliath sized brute completely impoverished of the thing. For the giant to have noticed Killy's presence it meant only one thing and the blonde shinigami shuddered at the thought of it.
"Could it b-"
Before the blonde shinigami could finish the thought notion, a deafening blast noise rang out.
Returning his focus to the present, the blonde shinigami's eyes immediately snatched view of a crimson energy beam bursting forth from the giant arrancar's knuckle just before engulfing Killy Lohr whole in a massive blood-colored radiance.
"Damn it!" He said.
He had taken his mind off the giant's fist for a second, just a second, and in that timeframe the giant had already loaded and unleashed a cero towards Killy even before his fist made contact. Had it only been a punch, he would not have been worried for his comrade. In fact, had it even been a regular cero he would not have been fazed either. Having witnessed Killy's speed in activity and its obvious superiority in contrast to the giant's, he had no reason to concern himself with the man's wellbeing. He knew very little about the lad, certainly, but a lot about Darius. The captain never did things without reason; To have urged Killy to accompany him to the 8th clearly indicated that Darius acknowledged Killy (or his prowess at least). However, that cero the giant had discharged earlier barely had a charge time. Nomal ceros were required to load for a certain period of time before being launched, the duration of this load time varying with respect to the skill (reiastu level/reiatsu control) of the Hollow in question, and yet this monster of an arrancar had almost completely ignored that charge time, in addition to the fact that- that cero's sheer density/force far exceeded anything the blonde shinigami had come across before, the energy behind it lacking neither in quality nor quality. Not even a miracle would prevent Killy from taking the full brunt of such an attack without being badly scathed. At this point the mysteries revolving around the giant's previous lack of reiastu became crystal clear as the blonde shinigami momentarily perceived the existence of an incredible pressure residing within him.
Immediately, the blonde shinigami hastened to ascertain his partner's status, scanning the immediacy of the arrancar duo for the lad's spirtual pressure. Clinging desperately to hope, he searched, expecting to get a reading on Killy and to his utter amazement he did. Minute fragments of crushed earth, produced by that cero's explosion, now crowding the distant atmosphere in a dustcloud began to recede, returning visibility. The dust settled quite fast, allowing the blonde shinigami to regain a clear view of things once more.
Sighing inwardly to himself, the blonde shinigami would wonder why he even bothered about Killy, whom at the time stood atop fissured ground, with his left arm held up in front of him, in the first place. Fixating on that arm, the blonde shinigami came to realise that much of the textile prior clothing it had been vaporized, revealing a superficially singed skin underneath. Impressive. Very impressive.
In that same instant the blonde shinigami heard something thud against the floor.
Shifting his attention to the shorter arrancar who had been the focal point of Killy's offensive zanjutsu debut, the blonde shinigami came to a sudden discovery; Despite the larger arrancar's interruption, Killy had still managed to dismember the dwarf's right arm. Cleanly bifurcating it at the level of the upper arm a few inches below the glenohumeral region(the shoulder joint). At this point, he could not help but applaud his partner even more. Expecting the dwarf to wail in utter agony over losing a limb, the blonde shinigami prepared to relish in such a sight. However, much to his utter amazement, the dwarf endured the dismemberment with apparent ease, barely flinching.
He was just about to commend the dwarf's seemingly enhanced endurance before yet another occurrence caught him off guard- the dwarf opted to amass reiastu just before breaking free of the binding spell whose influence he had been placed under, shattering all the rods of light embedded into his midsection at once. Had the dwarf possessed reiastu matching his, the blonde shinigami could have fathomed such an instant break out. No, even using reiastu alone, such a break out would not have been farfetched but the instance before his very eyes defied logic. That the dwarf had relieved himself of a rikujokoro spell casted near full power wasn't the issue: The real problem here was that his physical strength had contributed enormously to the success of that instant break out.
Monsters. The whole lot of them. But he himself was... a monster.
Scarlet bodily fluids sprayed finely from the dwarf's armless right shoulder area, daubing the right half of his snow white garb red, while, simultaneously, dribbling downwards to splosh against the ground in patches of viscous lifeblood, garnished with shards of mangled flesh and bony fragments. Limb loss naturally attracted profuse bloodletting, which, in turn, incited the emergence of anemia. Sooner or later the dwarf was bound to lose consciousness, regardless his unbelievable capacity to deny pain. It was only a matter of time.
Apparently the now one-armed arrancar had erected a full-bodied barrier of some sorts in hopes of shielding himself from harm, should he be attacked. Quite commendable sharp thinking.
But unfortunately for him his assailant had struck at a speed level more fast than anticipated, severing his right arm a split second before a unique shroud of spiritual energy seeped through his skin pores and hugged his body tight.
Perhaps, driven by cowardice or a rational dread for Killy, the dwarf instinctively extended the reach of that bizarre barrier. Pushing it to spread outwards from his body over a few feet. And as that energy field stretched further from him, the superficial layers of flooring in its path of expansion began to erode away at a gradual pace; Incinerating into dust. To think that hollows were be able to do stuff like this.
All of a sudden the dwarf half crouched, the fingers of his sole hand curling subsequently into a fist. Arm drawn backwards, that fist pounded down. With the entire ordeal, from the dwarf's knuckle cracking at their joints to the delivery of that punch, occurring in blurred motion.
Instantaneously, a massive explosion of raw, brute kinetic force broke out in a collision between reiastu-charged fist and solid ground. Inciting an even greater resonance than that of the larger arrancar's earlier fired cero as a testament to the immensity of the destructive might behind that seemingly casual punch.
Cursing inwardly to himself for allowing the one-armed arrancar freedom of movement even after he had escaped Rikujokoro's binding, Seraph frowned, as a series of cracks begin to spread outwards from the point of contact between the dwarf's knuckle and ground below in a spiderweblike fashion, which caused him to envision the foundation of the 8th division's main building disassembling explosively such that the entirety of the magnificent edifice mounted on it collapsed inwards on itself. Swallowed completely by mother earth.
However, that mental image perished immediately, proving itself erroneous as despite its shuddering base that building retained its footing. Though, prior to which the blonde shinigami's reiastu sense captured a powerful reiatsu signature that was previously mute within the 8th's main building.
Based on conjecture alone, the blonde shinigami believed that the 8th division's main building had been defended from collapse by the 8th division's captain, or at least someone else of equal strength, who had probably casted a kido spell of some sorts to quell the agitated tectonic plates underlying that main building.
Seraph sharply recollected his focus. Then restructured his thoughts to account for every single thing that had transpired before his person.
Of the arrancar duo, the shorter one possessed greater levels of physical conditioning. Yet in spite of this, the blonde shinigami did not believe that the dwarf's durability was close to being nearly as astonishing Killy's due to the glaring evidence which was his current handicap. Killy had after all, without difficulty whatsoever, severed one of his limbs using a casual swordslash and he did not even need to infuse his zanpakuto with reiastu to do so. Inclusively, the dwarf did resort to enshrouding himself in a peculiar, high-temperature energy field at some point, which spoke plenty of his unwavering confidence in his base durability. Seraph could not deduce with utmost exactness the full extents of the dwarf's durability, but he was certain of one thing- it (The dwarf's durability) paled largely in comparison to his.
The larger arrancar, on the other hand, posed an even greater threat than his subordinate, having completely suppressed his spiritual fingerprint from the likes of the blonde shinigami's adept awareness. And in so doing he had blundered. What was the point of concealing his reiastu if he was just going to blow his cover over an attack aimed at someone else. They were arrancars, vile, arrogant, ruthless beings, were they not? So why had he acted in defense of his subordinate. Perhaps these hollows were neither as nefarious as their appearances claimed nor as inhumane as the tales of their notorious exploits would lead one to believe. And perhaps the bigger, brute looking arrancar was not that intelligent after all.
Notwithstanding: The instant that dwarf slammed his fist into the ground with enough force to not just threaten the structural integrity of the 8th's main building but also propagate seismic tremors over several metres, the blonde shinigami grasped how much of a hindrance such a being could pose to their cause if left unchecked. So he attempted to utilize another bakudo spell.
However... following the formation of that thought notion, and a moment shortly after the dwarf's punch connected with the ground, boundless amounts of spiritual momentum heavy with an oceanic weight broke loose, erupting seemingly out of nowhere.
But the blonde shinigami knew all too well where such immense spirtual pressure had crept out from.
Recognising it to have belonged to the giant arrancar himself, Seraph, not surprised in the least by the sudden release gestured in thought. Willing the dam prior keeping his spiritual essence at bay to crumble at once in a bid to instantaneously flashflood his surroundings with tidal amounts of spiritual pressure himself. Though not enough to put the giant arrancar's to shame, the blonde shinigami's counter release should have possessed sufficient pushback force to impede the advance of the giant's. Considerably diminishing its potency and efficacy.
Considering all the things the blonde shinigami had been anticipating up to this point, the eventuality of the giant exerting his spiritual pressure in full force sat at the very apex of that list.
Probing into a dustcloud roused into the air following the impact of the currently one-armed arrancar's punch, the blonde shinigami confirmed that Killy had offered a similar response. Though, he could not say the same for the Dwarf who had instead dropped knee first to the ground in seeming reverence of his superior.
With the energy field from before nudged into inactivation by the force of the larger arrancar's release, in addition to its crushing weight against his back, the dwarf had become almost (if not completely) defensively nude: A window of opportunity ripe for exploitation.
Coincidentally or not, in that exact moment,
another joined the fray.
Completely disregarding this newly arrived, Seraph spoke, commanding the void, with an authority bestowed him by a kido mastery.
"Bakudo #9, Geki."
Should all things be equal the blonde shinigami would continue immediately.
"Bakudo #62, Hyapporankan."
"Bakudo #63, Sajo Sabaku."
The blonde shinigami would then extend his dominant hand forward. While allowing his reiastu to skyrocket, he would clench that hand into a fist just before opting to use Kojutsu Eisho.
Beginning with Sajo Sabaku.
"Let us test that durability of yours against immense crushing binding force, shall we?"
